Aptive Wins New VA Contract to Power Veteran Suicide Prevention Sprints

Aptive will provide program management, data and communications support for four VA Strategic Sprints

Aptive has received a two-year, $2.3 million task order from the Department of Veterans Affairs to support the Veterans Health Administration’s Office of Suicide Prevention (OSP).

Over the next two years, the project team will work alongside OSP’s sprint teams to run four Veteran Suicide Prevention Strategic Sprints: Increasing Connections, Chronic Pain Management Support, Faith-Based Collaborations and Care Coordination.

The sprints were ordered by the VA secretary in September 2025 after a review of the department’s suicide prevention work identified four areas that needed a faster, more coordinated push: reaching Veterans who have stopped engaging with VA health care, supporting Veterans managing chronic pain, expanding partnerships with faith communities and closing coordination gaps between VA and community providers.

The contract calls for program and project management, strategic communications and executive support, data governance, performance measurement and conference and event planning, work that will touch more than a dozen VA offices including the Office of Mental Health, the Veterans Experience Office and the National Chaplain Service.

“More than 60% of Veterans who died by suicide in 2022 hadn’t been in a VA clinic in the two years before their death,” said Rachele Cooper, CEO of Aptive. “That’s one of the reasons this contract exists, and it’s why we built this project team out of people who already know VHA’s suicide prevention mission from the inside, not people who are learning it on this contract. Running four sprints at once, across a dozen VA offices, isn’t a job for a team that needs a ramp-up period.”
